According to Bimo Andrio and Rika Safrina, “There is no shortage of Influencers and Key Opinion Leaders” in the fight against climate change. People shouldn’t dim their influence because they are not in high positions of power. Not every power holder – either political, financial, or technological has the ability to influence a change of attitude. We the people can determine the path to a sustainable world environment.
Everyone is a climate change activist – but we must not lose focus. As Bimo Andrio and Rika Safrina rightly said “Climate change remains a looming humanity issue because of how complicated and unintegrated the actions are. In 2015, when the world leaders collectively adopted the Paris Climate Accord, it seemed the world was together in fighting the inevitable enemy facing our next generation: climate catastrophe. But, five years later, it looks like we were far from rounding the corner of the “2oC” target”. What next?
The world’s people do have all the tools in their toolboxes to screw the bolts of uncertainties about climate change. But most often than not both young and old climate activist rise and fall because of either self-aggrandizement or becoming entangled in the contemporary politics of ‘confusion’. Some if not all activists start selling their images to companies for fame or for money. That said, the world’s people should not lose focus, we should all become climate change activists in our own rights if we want a better future for future generations
There are many ways we as the world’s people can become climate change influencers right from our bedrooms. As all our lives now revolve around the internet, our relationships with each other are all mediatize. Golifedays recently created and launched a personalized #tag depicting a theme called “Putting climate change communication digital in 2023” to engage people to take part in climate change activism. People can text what they think the future of the world environment should look like with the #climatechangeisreal.
The world’s people must not lose focus because CLIMATE CHANGE mitigation is a responsibility for everyone – We’ve got to use all the tools at our disposal to influence a change in behavior towards the natural environment.
